Tweetclip

Privacy Policy

1. The short version

Tweetclip is a free tool that downloads videos and images from public Twitter/X links. We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or any other personal information to use it. We collect limited anonymous analytics and size-limited private service logs to understand whether the downloader works and reproduce failures.

2. Information we process

  • The tweet link you submit — used to fetch the requested media. A normalized version with tracking parameters removed is retained in a private rotating diagnostic log so failed requests can be reproduced and fixed.
  • Your IP address — read transiently to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse. It is held in short-lived application memory and may appear temporarily in the reverse proxy's size-limited security or transport-error logs. It is not stored in Tweetclip's diagnostic event log or a user database.
  • Cached tweet metadata — the title, URL and media link of a tweet are kept in server memory for up to 24 hours to avoid repeatedly fetching Twitter.
  • Anonymous analytics — sanitized page paths, referring page, browser and device details, approximate location, and structured events such as extraction success, error codes, media type, item count, and download clicks. We do not send the tweet link, tweet text, author, media address, or download token to OpenPanel.
  • Anonymous service identifier — a random identifier and its creation time are stored in your browser so repeated transfer events can be grouped into one user-visible task. It contains no account, IP address, or device fingerprint.
  • Installed-web-app state — limited browser storage records whether Tweetclip has been opened from an installed home-screen icon and prevents duplicate launch analytics within one session. If you share a Twitter/X link to Tweetclip from another app, that link is held in session storage only until it is prefilled once or expires after 10 minutes.

3. Cookies

Tweetclip does not use analytics cookies. OpenPanel processes the IP address transiently to derive approximate location and a daily rotating anonymous visitor identifier, then discards the raw IP address. Tweetclip uses browser local and session storage for the separate random service identifier and installed-web-app state described above; clearing site data resets local state, while session state expires with the browser session.

4. Third parties

Media files are downloaded from Twitter/X's public content-delivery servers (twimg.com). Your request for a specific tweet is sent to Twitter/X to retrieve that content. We are not affiliated with Twitter or X Corp.

We use OpenPanel for privacy-conscious website and product analytics. OpenPanel receives only the anonymous analytics data described above.

5. Your rights & contact

We do not use analytics to identify you and do not sell visitor data. For any privacy question or request, contact support@tweetclip.app.
