A profile, timeline, search result, or the home feed does not identify one video. Always open the individual tweet before copying — the URL must belong to that tweet.

How to Copy a Twitter Link on Any Device

    Open the individual tweet first

    Tap or click the tweet so it opens on its own page with a /status/ URL. A link only identifies one tweet when that tweet is open — copying from the timeline can point at the wrong place.

    Helpful detail: Quoted videos count too: open the quoting tweet or the quoted one, depending on which video you want.

    On iPhone: Share → Copy Link

    With the tweet open in the X app, tap the share icon below the tweet, then tap Copy Link in the share sheet. Two taps: share, Copy Link, done.

    Helpful detail: On some app versions the option is called Copy link to Tweet. The copied value works exactly like the address-bar URL.

    On Android: Share → Copy Link

    Open the tweet, tap the share icon at the bottom of the tweet, and choose Copy Link. The URL is now on your clipboard, ready to paste into Chrome.

    Helpful detail: If the sheet shows 'Share via' apps first, scroll it — Copy Link appears in the sheet's own action row.

    On PC or Mac: use the address bar

    Open the tweet page on x.com and copy the full URL from the browser's address bar — no share sheet needed. Alternatively, click the tweet's share icon and choose Copy Link.

    Helpful detail: Right-clicking a tweet's timestamp and choosing Copy link address also produces a valid tweet URL.

What a valid Twitter link looks like

Before pasting, glance at what is actually on your clipboard. These three shapes all work with Tweetclip.

Full tweet URLs

https://x.com/username/status/ followed by a long number. The older twitter.com/username/status/ form identifies the same tweet and is equally valid.

Links to a specific video or photo

URLs ending in /video/1 or /photo/1 point at one media item inside the tweet. Tweetclip resolves them to the parent tweet before extracting anything.

Links with tracking extras

Text like ?s=20 or &t=… after the URL does not break anything. Tweetclip normalizes the address before fetching the tweet.

x.com versus twitter.com, explained

Both domains point to the same tweet

Since the Twitter-to-X rebrand, twitter.com redirects to x.com. A tweet ID is identical on both, so either form resolves to the same public media.

Which copied links will not work

Profile and timeline URLs (they name accounts, not one tweet), copied tweet text with no URL at all, and links to Spaces or Communities cannot be turned into a video download.

Fix common download problems

Copy Link is missing from the share sheet

Update the X app first. As a fallback, open the tweet in your mobile browser and copy the address bar URL — that method always exists.

Pasting shows the tweet's text, not a URL

You copied the caption instead of the link. Redo it with Share → Copy Link, or copy from the address bar, and confirm the clipboard starts with http.

The link opens a different tweet than expected

A reply or recommendation was probably open when you copied. Go back to your original tweet, open it fully, and copy again.

Tweetclip rejects the pasted link

Check that the value contains x.com or twitter.com with /status/ in it. If you copied a whole chat message, paste it somewhere editable and keep only the URL.
