How to Download Twitter Videos on PC or Mac

A desktop browser gives you the clearest tweet URL, a larger preview, and direct access to the downloaded MP4. Copy the individual tweet address, process it on Tweetclip, and save the result to your normal Downloads folder.

Open the individual tweet

Do not copy a profile, timeline, or search URL. Click the tweet until the address identifies one /status/ page. A public tweet can be processed without giving Tweetclip your Twitter/X login.

Know your browser's download location

Chrome and Edge normally use the operating system's Downloads folder unless you changed it. Safari on Mac lets you choose its file download location in Settings → General.

Save only media you are allowed to use

Use downloaded files for lawful purposes and respect the creator's copyright and Twitter's terms. Tweetclip does not remove attribution embedded in a source video or grant republication rights.

How to Download Twitter Videos on PC or Mac

    Copy the tweet page address

    Open the exact tweet on x.com or twitter.com and copy the full address from the browser bar. You can also use the tweet's share control and choose Copy Link when the address bar carries extra tracking text.

    Helpful detail: A clean link normally contains /status/ followed by the tweet ID. Both x.com and twitter.com links are accepted.

    Paste the link on Tweetclip

    Open tweetclip.app in a new tab, paste the URL into the homepage input, and click Download. The page checks public tweet data rather than asking you to install a browser extension or desktop program.

    Verify the preview and save the MP4

    Wait for the result card, play a moment of the preview if needed, then choose Download MP4. Leave the tab open while a long HD file transfers and use the browser's download indicator to monitor progress.

    Locate and organize the file

    Open the browser's recent downloads list or your Downloads folder. Rename or move the MP4 after it finishes; moving an active partial download can interrupt it or leave an incomplete temporary file.

    Helpful detail: Chrome's download tray can show the file in its folder. Safari's Downloads button includes a magnifying-glass action to reveal a completed item in Finder.

Where the MP4 is saved on Windows and Mac

The browser—not Tweetclip—chooses the final folder. If no Save As dialog appeared, use these defaults and browser controls to find the completed file.

Windows with Chrome or Edge

Look under C:\Users\your-name\Downloads, or open the browser's Downloads screen and choose Show in folder. A custom browser setting may send files somewhere else.

Mac with Chrome

Chrome normally uses /Users/your-name/Downloads. Open the recent download tray or Chrome's Downloads page to reveal the file in Finder.

Mac with Safari

Use Safari's Downloads button and click the magnifying glass beside the completed file. Safari → Settings → General shows or changes the configured download location.

Why a desktop download is not the same as bookmarking a tweet

Twitter/X, the browser, and Tweetclip each use the word “save” differently. Understanding the boundary prevents the most common wrong-file and missing-file problems.

Bookmarking a tweet saves it online

The bookmark control on Twitter/X adds the tweet to your account's bookmarks. It is useful for finding the tweet again online, but it does not write an offline MP4 to your computer.

Right-click may capture only the poster

A tweet can display a still poster over a streamed video. Right-clicking the visible frame may save an image or a webpage resource instead of the complete video. Use the verified Tweetclip result and Download MP4 control.

Browser settings decide whether you see Save As

Chrome and Edge can either use one default folder or ask where to save each file. Safari has its own file download location setting. Tweetclip cannot silently override those browser preferences.

Interrupted direct downloads can resume

Tweetclip's direct MP4 delivery supports browser byte ranges, so a compatible browser can resume an interrupted transfer instead of always starting from zero. Upstream availability and converted HLS downloads can still behave differently.

Troubleshooting

Fix common download problems

The browser opens a video tab instead of downloading

Return to the Tweetclip result and use Download MP4 rather than right-clicking the preview. If your browser is configured to open that media type, use its download control or Save As action from the opened file tab.

The file is not in Downloads

Open the browser's download history and choose Show in folder or the Finder magnifying-glass action. Then check whether the browser is configured to ask for a destination or use a custom download folder.

The file is very small or will not play

Confirm the transfer finished and that the extension is .mp4. Delete an incomplete partial file, return to the result, and retry once on a stable network. Do not rename an HTML error page to .mp4.

Tweetclip cannot fetch the public video

Open the tweet URL in a private browser window. A login wall, deleted tweet, protected account, or withheld content means the media is not publicly reachable. A temporary Twitter rate limit usually warrants waiting before retrying, not repeated rapid submissions.

Not with the current Tweetclip tool. It accepts an individual public tweet link. Account-scale downloads need separate batching, packaging, and copyright safeguards and are not currently claimed as supported.
