Direct MP4 sources delivered exactly as Twitter serves them — never re-encoded.

How to download

1

Copy the tweet link

Open the tweet with the video and copy its link with Share → Copy Link or from the browser's address bar.

2

Paste it above

Tweetclip reads the public tweet data, finds the best video source, and shows a preview before you save anything.

3

Download the MP4

Click Download MP4. Streaming-only videos are repackaged into MP4 on our server first, so the saved file always plays.

What 'Twitter to MP4' actually means

MP4 is a container — a box that holds compressed video and audio. Knowing what is inside the box explains why Tweetclip files keep their original quality.

MP4 is a container, not a conversion

An MP4 file wraps the video and audio streams Twitter already encoded. When Twitter serves an MP4 directly, Tweetclip delivers those exact bytes — converting a tweet to MP4 without touching the picture inside.

HLS videos are repackaged, not re-encoded

Most Twitter videos exist as HLS: dozens of small fragments listed in an .m3u8 playlist. Tweetclip downloads the fragments and remuxes them into a single MP4 container on our server. The video stream is copied as-is, so quality is identical to the source.

Why MP4 instead of WebM or MOV

MP4 is the one video format every phone, TV, browser, and editor opens natively. Twitter encodes with MP4-compatible codecs, so repackaging into MP4 keeps the file universally playable without any conversion loss.

Original quality, honestly reported

Tweetclip picks the strongest quality tier Twitter exposes publicly — up to 1080p HD when the creator uploaded in HD. It never upscales, compresses, or watermarks, so what you download is exactly what Twitter serves.

Play your MP4 on any device

An MP4 from Tweetclip opens in the default player on every major platform — no codec packs, players, or converters needed.

iPhone and iPad

Safari saves the MP4 to Files → Downloads. Open it there, or tap Share → Save Video to add it to Photos, where it plays and edits like any camera video.

Android phones

The MP4 lands in the Downloads folder and plays immediately in your gallery or Files app. Move it to a Movies folder if you want your gallery to index it sooner.

Windows and macOS

Double-click the file in your Downloads folder. Windows Media Player, QuickTime, and every modern browser play MP4 natively.

MP4 download problems, solved

A finished MP4 from Tweetclip is a standard file. If one misbehaves, the cause is almost always outside the file itself.

The MP4 won't play

Confirm the transfer completed — a 0 KB file means it was interrupted. Retry once; Tweetclip's range support lets a compatible browser resume instead of restarting. A finished file that still will not open plays in VLC or any current browser.

There is video but no sound

The source tweet was uploaded without an audio track, which is common for Twitter GIFs and silent clips. Tweetclip preserves the streams Twitter provides and never strips audio that exists.

The saved file has the wrong extension

If you accidentally saved the web page instead of the video, renaming an .html file to .mp4 will not make it play. Return to the result and use the Download MP4 button itself.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting Twitter to MP4 reduce the quality?

No. Direct MP4 sources are delivered byte-for-byte, and HLS videos are remuxed — the streams are copied into the MP4 container without re-encoding. There is no quality loss step anywhere in the flow.

Why did my Twitter GIF save as an MP4?

Twitter delivers its GIFs as looping MP4 video rather than .gif images. The MP4 is the original, higher-quality form of the animation — nothing was converted or lost.

Why MP4 instead of WebM, MOV, or MKV?

MP4 is the most universally supported video container: every phone, TV, console, browser, and editor opens it. Twitter's own codecs fit the MP4 container natively, so no transcoding is needed.

What resolution will the MP4 file have?

The strongest quality tier Twitter exposes publicly for that tweet — up to 1080p HD when the uploader provided an HD source. Tweetclip does not upscale or invent resolutions that the source does not have.

Can I convert a protected or deleted tweet to MP4?

No. Tweetclip processes public tweets only. It never asks for your X login and cannot reach protected, deleted, or login-only content.

Will the MP4 play on my TV or game console?

Yes. MP4 is the most widely accepted format for smart TVs, consoles, and USB playback. Copy the file to a USB drive or cast it like any other video.

Is there a Twitter to MP3 option?

Yes. Use the Twitter to MP3 page or the Audio (MP3) button next to every video result to keep only the sound track.
