X (Twitter) video downloader

X Video Downloader

X is the new name for Twitter — and this is its downloader. Paste any public tweet video link from x.com or twitter.com and save it as an MP4 in original quality, up to 1080p. Free, anonymous, no watermark, no X login.

Public video posts from X (Twitter), including t.co short links

  • X and Twitter links both work
  • Up to 1080p HD
  • No watermark
  • No X login needed

What this tool handles

Public video posts from x.com and twitter.com — the same platform before and after the rename.
t.co short links copied from the X app, which resolve to the post they point to.
HLS (m3u8) streaming videos remuxed server-side into one standard MP4, never re-encoded.
The strongest publicly available quality tier, up to 1080p HD when the uploader provided it.

How to download

1

Copy the post link

Open the post with the video on X and copy its link with Share → Copy Link or from the browser's address bar.

2

Paste it above

Tweetclip reads the public post data, finds the best video source, and shows a preview before you save anything.

3

Download the video

Click Download MP4, or Audio (MP3) if you only want the sound. Streaming-only videos are remuxed into MP4 on our server first, so the saved file always plays.

Why 'X downloader' became a search term

When Twitter renamed to X in 2023, its domain moved to x.com and a new vocabulary appeared in search. Here is what actually changed — and what did not.

X is Twitter under a new name

The rebrand changed the logo, the name, and the domain. It did not change how videos are stored or served. Every tool that downloaded Twitter videos — including this one — downloads X videos the same way.

x.com and twitter.com links are equivalent

Both domains resolve to the same post: https://x.com/user/status/123 and https://twitter.com/user/status/123 point to identical content. Paste whichever one you have; Tweetclip accepts both, with or without tracking parameters.

t.co short links work too

Links copied inside the X app often start with t.co. That is the platform's own shortener and it redirects to the full post URL, so Tweetclip follows it to the same video.

What the downloader actually saves

Public videos only, at the best quality X exposes — up to 1080p when the creator uploaded HD. HLS streams are remuxed into a standard MP4 without re-encoding, and nothing is watermarked. For format details see our Twitter to MP4 page; the Twitter to MP3 page covers audio-only saves, and the how-to guide walks through every step.

Download X videos on any device

Tweetclip runs in the browser, so the same steps work everywhere X does.

iPhone and iPad

Copy the post link in the X app with Share → Copy Link, then paste it here in Safari. The MP4 saves to Files → Downloads; use Share → Save Video to move it to Photos.

Android phones

Copy the link from the X app or Chrome and paste it above. The MP4 lands in your Downloads folder and plays in your gallery like any other video.

Windows and macOS

Copy the post URL from the address bar — x.com and twitter.com both work. The saved MP4 plays natively in every modern player and browser.

When an X video will not download

Most failures come from the link or the post itself, not the downloader.

The link must point to a single post

Use the URL of the individual post containing the video — it includes /status/ followed by a number. Profile pages, timelines, and search results do not identify one video. If you are unsure how to get the right URL, see our copy a Twitter link guide.

Protected or deleted posts cannot be downloaded

Tweetclip — like any downloader — can only read public posts. Posts from protected accounts, deleted posts, and login-only content are unreachable by design. Our download troubleshooting page lists every known cause.

The download stalls or the file will not play

Confirm the transfer finished: a 0 KB file means it was interrupted. Retry once; Tweetclip's range support lets a compatible browser resume instead of restarting. A complete file that still will not open plays in VLC or any current browser.

Frequently asked questions

Is an 'X downloader' different from a Twitter video downloader?

No. X is Twitter renamed: same platform, same videos, same links with a new domain. Tweetclip works as both — paste an x.com or twitter.com link and the result is identical.

Do x.com and twitter.com links give the same video?

Yes. Both domains serve the same post, and Tweetclip accepts either — including t.co short links from the X app and URLs with tracking parameters.

What quality will the downloaded video have?

The strongest quality tier X exposes publicly for that post — up to 1080p HD when the uploader provided an HD source. Tweetclip never upscales, compresses, or watermarks.

Do I need an X account or login?

No. Tweetclip downloads public videos anonymously and never asks for your X credentials. That also means protected, deleted, or login-only posts cannot be downloaded — by any tool.

Why did my video save as MP4 even though it streams on X?

Most X videos are delivered as HLS streams — an .m3u8 playlist of fragments. Tweetclip downloads the fragments and remuxes them into one standard MP4 on our server without re-encoding, so the file plays everywhere at original quality.

Can I save only the audio from an X video?

Yes. Use the Audio (MP3) button next to the video result, or the dedicated Twitter to MP3 page, to extract the sound track as an MP3 file.

Can I download videos from private accounts?

No. Tweetclip processes public posts only. Videos behind a protected account are out of reach for every downloader, not just this one.
